Is it just me, or is the little bobblehead poking out of Mama's feathers about the CUTEST thing you have ever seen  I also noticed the large hole in the remaining egg, so we should have a full house very soon now. Thanks, Doris, for the photo updates. Amazing footage :!:

I also love the peek-a-boo pictures, foxfire.
They are so cute.Bild

We still have 3+1.
They had dinner. One bite was to big and Luna devoured it again.

Great videos and photos :D Seems like it is taking a long time for 4th chick to break out of egg :?
I will check back tonight (Saturday morning in Vetschau) and hope to see 4 little ones.

Bubblehead No. 4 is still fighting against the shell. It's a very very hard work! 2 jears ago I had the chance to see and to film such a fight live in an incubator. The normal time to hatch can be up to 36 hours. The chick has done it in record time of 9 hours. See the video if you want: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_9V-QhOEs0

Thank you Skippy....what a wonderful video :D The more I learn about birds, the more I am amazed by them. I had no idea the hatching could take so long....when hatching in the nest, it looks like the parent tries to help.

I see them....4 precious little bobbleheads. Miracles happen every day. Cico and Luna have their work cut out for them....FEED and WATER those precious little ones as they grow. Thanks for all the great pictures and videos. We in the US and Canada have to rely on your help. Time difference has us in bed when we should be watching.

During the hatching the chick has to drag the yolk sac into the abdomen. This is a very important process which needs its time and can't be abbreviated. Therefore the keepers may not help if a chick is hatching in the incubator, and the parents in the nest don't help also. They rotate the egg and warm it, but they would not destroy the shell to help the chick hatching easier or faster. They follow the laws of nature. We only can be amazed and have to realize how small our knowledge is...
