First Landlord of the Year arrived at the Vetschau Internet Eyrie
Since Tuesday the 6th of April at about 6:35 p.m. it clatters again at the White Stork Information Centre in Vetschau/Spree Forest. Bernd Elsner, manager of NABU RV, Calau, assumes that it is the male stork "Cico", because he again single-mindedly occupied his eyrie of the past years. Storks are, as a rule, very loyal to their eyries. Our stork will recuperate from the long journey, "renovate" his old nest to attract passing females.
We wish that it will be our "Luna" which will find her way back to the breeding area in time, and both will begin a successful brood season.
Those who may wish to visit "Cico and Luna's" eyrie, may do so from Tuesdays to Sundays as well as on holidays between 10a.m. and 5p.m. at the White Stork Information Centre in Vetschau/Spree Forest, Drebkau St. 2a.

Have a great day everyone.

Have a great day everyone.
Thank you for all the time you give to this English part of the Vetschau Forum, Doris. You, and Tina and many others have taken the time to translate what is going on at the nest. You have no idea how much we appreciate the time you give us. We all love watching the storks and getting answers to many of our questions.
Like other years, I know once the nest becomes active the Forum here will become active also.
Here's to a happy family!

Hello Everyone
I am not getting emails when someone posts to this forum and my profile shows that "yes" is noted for email notifications. Is anyone else having that problem? Because of that I am a few days late at learning of the arrivals to the nest. I will be sure to check each day from now on.
Nice to see that other friendly familiar storkfriends are here again. I join in Luana's thanks to others for keeping us informed of the happenings.

Hi Su,
Well, I got an email about your reply but I will check into the forum now that things are starting to happen.
You can check your email notice status by clicking on Profile at the top of the Forum page. Under Preferences, the third item is for Email Notification of posts to this forum.
Also at the bottom of the Post a Reply page, there is a place to check for "Notify me when a reply is posted". I have had both of these checked but hadn't received the email notices. I'm going away for the weekend, so will check back on Monday.
Have a great weekend everyone

The Couple at the Internet Eyrie is complete
Today, in the forenoon at 10:45 a.m., the second stork arrived at the Vetschau stork nest, and so our stork couple is complete. We do have to revise our new first report. Apparently it was the stork female "Luna" which arrived on April 5th. The difference in size of the storks leads to the assumption that the stork of today is our male "Cico". An exact identification is only possible through the leg bands, however, our storks are not banded. Relevant literature speaks of the stork males arrive first in the brood regions and occupy the eyries.
Through observations via the live camera, which is made possible through enviaM since 1997, new findings to the life and behaviour of storks are gained again and again. Our, the NABU Regional Association Calau, efforts in the protection of white storks are only possible through your donations, your keen interest in the protection of storks and the White Stork Information Centre in Vetschau/Spree Forest.

I know we name the storks Cico and Luna no matter who occupies the nest... but do you think this is the original Cico and Luna, Doris? I marvel at people who can tell the difference.
It is the middle of the night here on a sleepless night. I watch the ice floating down the river. Another month and everything will warm up and the blossoms will be out. Probably 5-6 weeks later than you, Doris.
You also have a nice Sunday. I hope you get a chance to take more pictures.
