Second chick hatched at Loch of the Lowes! - Posted on May 23, 2015 by charlotteranger
A second osprey egg has hatched this morning at Loch of the Lowes. The exact timing is to be confirmed, but the chick was first spotted by volunteers at 8:15am. The adult female attempted to feed it almost immediately with a fish saved on the nest from yesterday. A full update will follow later today…
Dyfi Osprey Project - 1 June 2015
Glesni and Monty have been desperately trying to keep their two young chicks dry tonight.
No food since 3pm, so that will be it until tomorrow now. We haven't see the chicks for a few hours - hopefully they will be warm and dry underneath Glesni.
Weather still awful, but forecast to get slightly better from now on (9pm).
After a horrendous 15 hours of stormy weather, at 06:35 Monty returned to the nest with this whopper.
Glesni, after all those hours of shielding her precious cargo from heavy rain and 60mph winds throughout the night, finally stood up. Her chicks look fine and better still, dry as a bone.
The resilience of mother nature; enough to bring a tear to the eye.
